hello
I’m Frankie Fowle, a graphic designer, illustrator, and Master of Design student at Emily Carr University. My research explores ontological illustration as a means of engaging with thing-centered narratives, uncovering the histories and knowledge of more-than-human entities. Through an object-oriented ontological perspective, I investigate how illustration functions as a qualitative longitudinal research method—one that reveals the agency of non-human actors and their entanglement with human systems. By merging design, storytelling, and visual research, I challenge anthropocentric viewpoints and explore how design can serve as a catalyst for systemic change. My work seeks to reframe relationships between objects, beings, and environments, offering new ways of understanding the interconnected networks we inhabit.
